Gabrielle was with me as my helper and photographer. I learned that she can take quilting classes on the longarm too, so I am going to sign her up soon. At Heartbeat Quilting. She's 9. Imagine how great she will be after 10 or 20 years of practice. (Don't tell her I said that. 20 years sounds like a prison sentence to anyone under 30.) I wrote some more comments and insights on the process in my flickr post "dancing with stars." Houndstooth quilt pattern coming soon. I will show you the back too. It turned out really neat.

I really need to see if there is a place locally I can buy time on a machine. Everyone is churning out these mass quilted pieces and mine are still boring hand stitch or machine stitch around the edges of the blocks.

That's so great you can buy time for a machine! Nowhere around here does that - I either send out to my aunt (who does an amazing job) or do the small stuff on my little Janome. I played with long arms at the Chicago Quilt festival a few weeks ago - sooner than later I'm going to have to bite the bullet and get my own - so much fun! Oh - and I plan to try out the hounds tooth pattern in the next few weeks - I'm going to use hand-dyes!
