Gabrielle was with me as my helper and photographer. I learned that she can take quilting classes on the longarm too, so I am going to sign her up soon. At Heartbeat Quilting. She's 9. Imagine how great she will be after 10 or 20 years of practice. (Don't tell her I said that. 20 years sounds like a prison sentence to anyone under 30.) I wrote some more comments and insights on the process in my flickr post "dancing with stars." Houndstooth quilt pattern coming soon. I will show you the back too. It turned out really neat.

Speaking of quilting
That was my fun flowered cushion cover on Etsy's home page this morning. I have spent the morning writing a pattern for some super fun quilt blocks. Hoping to release that one this week. Gabrielle and I are headed out to Hearbeat Quilting right now to quilt my houndstooth quilt. I will post photos here, and you will see the actual quilt and the pattern for it in my shop soon. Can you tell I love quilting? I may have said this before, but I think all sewists should do some quilting. I found it improves my other sewing.

RTS? What is that?
Ready to ship! OMG! RTS? TDF! That's just how I feel. Lemme try to get the houndstooth version out today, so I can do another post like this one. P.S. I think everyone who sells bags also needs a kitchen chair cover like this. It's my new favorite spot.

14 months later...Yes!
14 months ago, I posted this dream of mine. To re-do some of my own furniture in the beautiful bright fabrics that come out of Rowan and Westminster fabrics - like Amy Butler. Rory laughed back then. Now he agrees that it's a good idea. My kitchen is about to get a makeover! The photo above shows the one yard wonder kitchen chair cover - which is my submission for the upcoming one-yard wonders 2 book. I will be doing a demo and hands-on workshop at Buttercuppity on April 7th.
Now I just have to pause the duffle factory long enough to recover 6 of our big parsons chairs. I bought 9 yards of fabric at Buttercuppity the other day for them. Here is a photo of what I am calling the duffle factory. Some new fabrics in the works that will be ready to ship duffles unless someone buys them before they are ready. If that happens, my ready to ship dream will remain a dream for a while longer.

Brunch
One of the things I LOVE about having my own business is having a leisurely brunch...everyday. I do brew the coffee in the morning, but before it's all gone, right around 11:00, I start thinking about brunch. For his birthday, I took Rory to brunch at Sante. I wanted him to have a taste of my life. Sante serves brunch all day everyday - they had me at bonjour!
I thought I would share the omelet I made for my solo brunch today, just in case you can't make it to Sante (which would earn 5 stars from me, if I had stars to give.)
Ingredients:
almost 2 Tbl butter, melted in the pan
one green onion, chopped - add it
one mushroom, chopped - add it
a huge handful of washed and dried fresh spinach - roughly chopped - add it

one mushroom, chopped - add it
a huge handful of washed and dried fresh spinach - roughly chopped - add it
Seasoned with salt, pepper, garlic powder
3 slices of cooked bacon leftover from yesterday's brunch - roughly chopped - add it
2 eggs beaten together lightly - add them
while the eggs are cooking, I add to the pan about 1/4 cup of hollandaise leftover from the other night when we had asparagus
It all gets mixed up and cooked together.
The 1/4 of an avocado on top really made this a meal that will fuel me well for the day.
I know you are laughing right now. Like that needed the avocado to make it last. It was the perfect flavor anyway. How do you like my food photography? It tasted better than it looks.

I smell like churros in Provence
And I like it...
Question me at will. I do recommend these products. If you were sitting next to me right now, you would have to fight the urge to take a bite.

Variety of Cathedral Window Totes
The only reason this blog has been so neglected lately is because I am sewing like a mad woman. I have one of these totes ready in olive duck and a white and green batik, but I need to order a custom zipper for it, so you may not see it for a while. I've been a bit of a duffle factory since about November. This is slowing down the zillion patterns I want to release. I was invited to submit to
the next version of one yard wonders coming out in about 18 months, so now I am derailed in another way as well. I will show you my submission as soon as I photograph it. Suffice it to say, I am really excited about how it turned out and what an easy project it will be for you to duplicate. I will give you a hint. It is not a bag. And I still have not opened the box my dressform came in, so it's not clothing either. Many thanks go out to the gals at sewmamasew, who found me on flickr and featured me.
